How did you get started with bodybuilding?

When I was still a young skinny guy I was inspired by action movies from Arnold, Sly and other muscled stars from 20 years ago. I was always doing some team sports and judo, karate… and besides that I made home-made weights at home and started pumping in the basement at 14-15 years of age. In that time we didn’t have much info about bodybuilding except a few magazines. So at the age of 15-16 I was already bigger then my friends and others around me and that was the beginning of my “gymlife”. I didn’t do any diets back then and didn’t really knew what I was doing. It was more like Monday to Friday lifting and at weekends was partying. I loved lifting heavy and getting a good pump and soreness the next day and also eating big. 🙂 My bodybuilding journey starts more seriously at the age of 23-24 when I started to use supplements and I gained a lot of muscle mass really quick.

I never had serious goals like competitions I just wanted to look nice, muscled and be strong. Then I got offered to be sponsored by Musclemania at the age of 28 and I got my first date for a competition. After 2 years of improving my physique I stepped on stage. My first competition was with Musclemania in Paris. I won the heavyweight class.

What keeps you motivated?

It’s my way of living and I’m grown into it. I’m not feeling good if I’m not in the gym doing my workout and eating clean. And small physique improvements make me really motivated.

What is your current workout routine?

Currently I’m with morning fasted cardio 3 days on and one day off – after 3-4 meals I’m hitting the weights with supersets of antagonists (push-pull) 8-12 reps 3 sets of 2 exercises in superset style and then I’ll do 4 sets of 10-12 reps for big-small muscle groups.

  • Monday: Back, chest, shoulders
  • Tuesday: Arms, calves
  • Wednesday: Legs
  • Thursday: Rest
  • Friday: Chest, triceps, calves
  • Saturday: Back, biceps
  • Sunday: Cardio outdoor – hills
  • Monday: Shoulders, calves
  • Tuesday: Legs
  • Wednesday: Rest
  • Repeat…

If you had to choose only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

  1. Bench press – my strongest exercise and best pump exercise for chest.
  2. Lateral raises for shoulders – love the burn and pump.
  3. Calve raises – you gotta love this exercise because for most people it’s a weak bodypart. lol

Competition history:

  • 2012: Musclemania EU tour Paris – 1st place heavyweight division
  • 2013: Musclemania EU tour Rome – 2nd place (lost against Simeon Panda)
  • 2013: Musclemania EU tour UK London – 1st place heavyweight division and overall champion of the night and got my pro card
  • 2014: Fitness universe Miami – 5th place (injured)
  • 2015: Fitness universe Miami in June (upcoming)

What is your favourite form of cardio?

Any kind of outdoor activity or circuit training in the gym.

What is your diet like?

Low carb diet with one day of 2-3 cheat meals per week.

What supplements do you use?

I’m sponsored by Nutrend so I get all their bodybuilding supplements. I use: bcaa, arginine, leucine, nac, hmb, L carnitine, cla, fever fatburner, whey iso, multivitamins, preworkout, mct, creatine.
