How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I used to be a basketball player since I was a kid, up until college when I got a scholarship. I knew that to get my game to the next level I needed to be stronger and that’s how I started lifting weights. I used to be really skinny, but after a few months, I saw that I got really good gains in a short period of time, and eventually bodybuilding became my favorite sport.

What keeps you motivated?

In the past the naysayers would be the ones who will fuel all my workouts but now, I would say my fans, who look up to me and are looking for an example and change their lifestyle for a better way of life, those are the ones who motivate me the most now.

What is your current workout routine?

Right now I usually workout 5 days in a row, and then have 1 rest day. I have 4 workouts, chest and back, biceps and triceps, shoulders and calves, and last but not least leg day. When I do the 4 workouts I just start over, and I have my rest day. The routine always changes, but I usually do 20 sets per muscle, and 4 or 5 different exercises per muscle. I always prefer to workout 2 muscles per day, doing supersets, and resting 1 minute or less between sets.

Example Routine:

Day 1: Chest and back

  • Inclined bench press machine superset with cable pulldown 4 x 12
  • Barbel bench press superset with row machine 4 x 12
  • Incline dumbbell fly superset with cable pulldown close grip 4 x 12
  • Fly machine superset with dumbbell rows 4 x 12
  • Dips chest variation superset with pull over machine 4 x 12

Day 2: Biceps and triceps

  • Seated dumbbell bicep curl superset with overhead tricep extension 4 x 12
  • Seated hammer dumbbell curl superset with lying EZ bar tricep extension 4 x 12
  • Barbell bicep curls superset with cable tricep pushdown 4 x 12
  • Rope hammer curls superset with reverse grip cable tricep pushdown 4 x 12
  • Preacher curl machine superset with tricep extension machine 4 x 12

Day 3: Shoulders and calves

  • Dumbbell shoulder press superset with seated calf raises 4 x 12
  • Seated lateral raises superset with seated calf raises 4 x 12
  • Machine lateral raises superset with seated calf raises 4 x 12
  • Front dumbbell raises superset with reverse fly machine 4 x 12
  • Upright rows 4 x 12

Day 4: Legs

  • Leg extension superset with leg curls 20-15-15-12-12
  • Squats 5 x 12
  • Leg press 15 reps superset with dumbbell deadlift 12 reps (5 sets)
  • Walking lunges 8 reps superset with glute machine 12 reps (5 sets)

Abs 3 days a week.

Cardio after working out except leg day 50 min with 20 min HIIT and 30 min low intensity.

If you had to choose only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

Bench press, squats and pull ups, because they work most of the muscles in the body and are the source of strength.

What is your favourite form of cardio?

Running

What is your diet like?

High protein, low carb and good source of fats. 1.2 grs of protein per pound of bodyweight, 1/4 of that in fats and the rest in carbs. Depending on my goal the amount of calories vary. But I tend to avoid sugars and sodium. I eat a lot of egg whites, chicken, fish, steak, green vegetables, brown rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal and almonds.

What supplements do you use?

Whey Protein, Creatine, Glutamine, BCAAs, Mutivitamin and Fish Oils.
