How did you get started with bodybuilding/fitness?
My fitness journey started after my collegiate career ended. I was a gymnast and I dislocated both of my elbows simultaneously and had reconstructive surgery. My career was over, I was lost, and I needed a new outlet. I found that working out again, pushing myself to my limit, and competing with myself was just what I needed. Fitness has become an amazing escape for me and it has become my lifestyle.
How do you stay so motivated? What drives you?
What keeps me motivated is the feeling that I get after an amazing workout. That feeling is like non-other. I’m addicted to pushing myself and seeing how strong I can be mentally and physically. I’m a happier, healthier person when I get to the gym regularly! So I remember that when I lack motivation to workout. The changes in your body are also pretty cool too. 🙂
What is your training routine like?
I workout 4-6 days a week. I typically split up my weeks into upper, lower and full body HIIT. If my workouts don’t work out that way, its not that big of a deal to me. I just workout what sounds good that day.
What are your three favourite exercises?
Oh, this is so tough. Anything legs. Reverse lunges, resistance band work, deadlifts. The list could go on. I have a love hate relationship with every exercise at some point.
What is your favourite form of cardio?
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), hands down. I rarely do “conventional” cardio. HIIT is a huge staple in my routine.
What is your diet like?
I don’t eat as “clean” as many would think and it’s always changing from day to day. I eat intuitively now. I see food as fuel and not as “good” or “bad”. I’m definitely not afraid to indulge but I also love my veggies.
What supplements do you use?
I use an all natural supplement company called @tryabouttime. My main supplements are pre workout, L-glutamine (for gut health) and AminoHydrate. It’s important to me to not have artificial sweeteners in my supplements.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in the fitness industry?
I did a Reebok commercial up at 14,000 ft in Colorado and it was an epic experience. But more importantly, I’m thankful to have the chance to impact and influence others’ lives in a positive way and help others see their worth. That to me is just so humbling.
