How did you get started with bodybuilding?
I’m a retired Rugby League player so I’ve always been into gym, and like most of us loved Arnie growing up. It wasn’t until I finished football that I really fully involved myself in the gym though. I’d retired through injury and was carrying a bit of extra fat so I was searching for answers on how to reduce it with involving too much cardio.
Turns out bodybuilding was the answer, I start researching diets training programs etc and everything just snowballed from there and I’ve never looked back, and now competing in the IFBB.
What keeps you motivated?
A few things, mainly my competitive nature followed by my own need to improve my physique. No matter how much progress you make you are always chasing more or make an adjustment here or there.
On top of this I’m currently prepping for the Arnold classic Australia, the first of it’s kind here its hard not to be motivated.

What is your current workout routine?
I’m currently being coached by Neil Hill who is Flex Lewis’s coach for those of you who don’t know him.
My routine uses the Y3T method created by Neil, it’s a pretty brutal and rewarding training program. Currently I’m 3 days on 1 day off and needing the break by the 4th day. Each week has a different rep range so there is a new challenge weekly so you don’t get complacent.
My split looks like below:
- Quads & Hams
- Back & Biceps
- Chest & Triceps
- Shoulders & Calves
My program changes weekly but Neil has his plans available to everyone so check it out

If you had to choose only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?
- Incline flye – I just love the stretch and pump this exercises gives.
- Bent over row – Building a bigger back comes through rows, I’ve found this to be the most effective movement for me over the years… my must have.
- Side lateral raises – People think pressing is the only way to build bigger shoulders, for me raises do it, thickness volume have all come from these.

Competition history:
- QLD & National IFBB Men’s Physique 2013 (2nd Place)
- FitX 2014 IFBB Men’s Physique Pro Qualifier 2014 (3rd Place)
- Omara Classic IFBB Men’s Physique 2014 (3rd Place)
- QLD & National IFBB Men’s Physique 2014
What is your favourite form of cardio?
I don’t have one haha, but I like the spin bike less stress on the joints and you can smash out a big HIIT session really easy.

What is your diet like?
My diet is pretty consistent year round, I don’t really ever get over 10% body fat, I just increase my calorie intake through carbs and fat in the off season and might include a few extra meals.
- Protein (Lean meats, Chicken or Turkey or Fish)
- Carbohydrates (Sweet potato, Oats, Rice, Protein breads or Quinoa)
- Healthy Fats (Nut’s, Avocado, Omega 3, etc)
What supplements do you use?
- Optimum Nutrition Hydro Whey
- Optimum Nutrition Pro Series BCAA
- Optimum Nutrition Casein
- Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Pre-Work Out
- Creatine
- Glutamine
- Fish Oils
- Probotics
- L-Cartine
- Pure Carbs Post-Work Out
