- Cut Your Sugar Intake
This is kind of a golden rule for detoxifying your body. When looking for where to start from, cutting your sugar intake is the right one. You have probably heard that sugar increases your weight. That’s true, but they do much more than that. When consuming a lot of sugars, you cause inflammation in your body and are on the right way to developing certain health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, and bad metabolism. In that way, you prevent your body from detoxifying itself naturally.
You can cut your sugar intake by replacing sugary drinks and products (especially processed foods) with healthier alternatives. For instance, you can replace regular sugar (as a sweetener) with stevia, erythromycin, or maple syrup. Similarly, you can replace sugary drinks with natural juices and smoothies.
- Reduce Processed Foods
Apart from sugars, you should also reduce the intake of processed foods. That includes granola bars, snacks, chips, margarine, bacon, ketchup, frozen dinners, and similar. These foods are related to some health conditions, including heart disease, high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, visceral fat, and others. That’s why you should reduce their intake as much as possible or buy their healthier alternatives which are usually found in healthy food shops. In that way, you will support the function of your detoxification system and will keep it healthy.
- Cut Your Salt Intake
Salt, just like sugar, is one of the most common additions to every meal. Although it gives them a better taste, it’s not as healthy as you think. According to what is known, salt makes your body retain water and other fluids, thus causing bloating and high blood pressure.
So, reducing your salt intake will prevent excess fluids in your body, bloating, help lose water weight, and improve heart health. The best way to reduce your salt intake is by drinking more water. Increased water intake will eliminate the excess fluids by reducing the secretion of the antidiuretic hormone and increasing urination.

- Drink Plenty of Water
Speaking of drinking water, we should mention that you should not only increase your water intake just to eliminate excess fluids but also to cleanse your body. As you probably know, the human body consists of 2/3 of fluids. Therefore, we need to drink a lot of water as well as other fluids, such as natural juices, tea, and coffee, to support the proper function of our body.
The recommended daily intake of water is 2-3 liters, depending on your gender and age. By drinking plenty of water, you not only cleanse your body but also regulate your body temperature, improve digestion, improve the nutrient absorption, increase the removal of waste from your body, and lubricate the joints. In that way, you support and improve your body function and overall health.
- Eat Foods Rich in Prebiotics
A healthy gut is important for a good detoxification system. And while probiotics are most commonly mentioned when referring to a healthy and balanced gut, prebiotics play a major role. They are a type of fiber that feeds the probiotics (good bacteria), thus supporting their continuous growth and ensuring balance. With their help, probiotics can produce short-chain fatty acids, nutrients that are beneficial to your health.
In order to consume enough prebiotics, you should eat foods that are rich in them. Some of them are bananas, tomatoes, oats, onions, and garlic. Or, if needed, you can also take prebiotic supplements. By receiving prebiotics, you keep your detoxification and immune systems healthy.
