How did you get started with bodybuilding?

Oh boy, this goes back many years ago. I played football in high school and also wrestled short term. Decided I would chuck some weight around to get stronger for school sports. Guess what? I got stronger. I liked what I was seeing and really enjoyed lifting and learning about the industry. I learnt at a very young age the importance of a balanced physique. I also knew that bodybuilding as a sport paid no where near what any other sport paid.

That leads me to why I still continue to work for SaskPower in the line trade as a supervisor. I have now worked there to 27 years.

What keeps you motivated?

I engulfed myself in the sport through competing, helping others do contests and helping the stay at home Mom or Dad achieve their goals. Business has grown exponentially for myself and now have 6 people that work for me under Team Wawryk Pro Trainers. I was fortunate as an amateur to have great success early on in my career.

I call it a career, but it’s more a passion for the industry. I continued and still continue to educate myself and others about the health benefits of the industry.

What is your current workout routine?

I am currently getting ready for the Miami Muscle Beach Pro April 2nd 2016. So this is what my current week looks like. It starts out at 5am, gym at 6am train till 7:30am, get to office by 8am, work till 5pm, retire for bed around 9pm. I am a volume trainer, progressively increasing the weight with every once in a while doing drop sets.

  • Day 1: Chest/Shoulders
  • Day 2: Back/Rear Delts
  • Day 3: Legs
  • Day 4: Shoulders/Chest
  • Day 5: Arms
  • Day 6: Quads – 2 sets, Back – 2 sets and Chest – 2 sets
  • Day 7: Off

If you had to choose only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

I probably don’t differ than most. I believe all the power movements are key to overall size. You recruit the most amount of fibers by doing the 3 big lifts. Now in saying that, if you are truly injured you might want to look at other exercises. But… don’t not do the exercise because it’s too much work. Be honest with yourself. I guarantee if done with the proper range of motion, and doing the exercise like its supposed to be done…

You will get the desired results. So here they are in no particular order, Squat, Dead lift, Flat barbell bench press.

Steady state incline treadmill

What is your diet like?

It changes as it goes from medium protein, medium carbs, little fats to higher protein, medium fats, little carbs.

What supplements do you use?
