How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I got started by playing football for Toronto Thunder and wrestling, during that process I had transformed my physique organically. From there I began doing fashion and commercial modelling but as a competitor, I wanted to compete so I pushed myself to compete in fitness competitions starting at the age of 18. At the age of 21 I had turned pro as the youngest male pro fitness model in the world at that time.

What keeps you motivated?

I am a workhorse, so what keeps me motivated is my desire to achieve at a high level and reach my highest potential and that applies to every aspect of my life. How I am with my business is the same way I approach my training; how you do ONE thing is how you do ALL things in life.

I work daily to sharpen and master my character so that I don’t need to rely on motivation to get me up each morning to work on my goals. The goals I set for myself, my habits and character are hardwired through constant conditioning.

What is your current workout routine?

I train every day and sometimes twice per day. I do a combination of weights, cardio, body weight training and wrestling training.

What are your three favourite exercises?

  1. Deadlifts
  2. Pull ups
  3. Battle ropes (conditioning)

What is your favourite form of cardio?

Sparring (wrestling) or Battle Ropes.

What is your diet like?

My diet is pretty flexible and predominately plant based. My protein sources include eggs, beef, fish and chicken. I am not as restrictive and obsessive with my diet on a day-to-day basis which allows me not to binge.

What supplements do you use?

Revolution BCCAs, fish oil, multivitamin.

What are your best 3 tips you would give to someone who is trying to reach their goal physique?

  1. Write down your goals. People that write down their goals on average are 39.5% more likely to achieve them.
  2. Create pressure for yourself to achieve your goals. You need deadlines and milestones to ensure you are pushing yourself. You need to apply some stress to your life which will create urgency to get in shape. If you know you are doing a photoshoot or stepping on stage in 12 weeks, you cannot afford to slack off 1 day per week because slacking 1-day per week accumulates to 14.29% at the end of 12 weeks of slacked off time.
  3. Suffer the pain of discipline and work ethic because if you don’t you will end up suffering the pain of regret. Those are the two pains you have the choice between in life.
